Ovarian Cancer Whispers – So Listen

While only 5% of women diagnosed with cancer are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, it is one of the deadliest types of cancer.  Women carrying a gene mutation called BRCA increases their chances of contracting breast cancer by 89% or ovarian cancer by 69% before the age of 60.  Our mother, Joyce, carried the BRCA 2 mutation and so does her oldest daughter, Nancy.  While Joyce learned she was BRCA positive too late, this knowledge has, most likely, saved Nancy’s life. If you, or someone you know, has a strong history of female cancers, please talk to your doctor. There are ways of managing and screening for these cancers.
